Special Experience

Experience the Mystical Power of Shugendo with a Waterfall Purification and Horn Shell Ceremony

Immerse yourself in the ancient spiritual practice of Shugendo at the sacred Mount Ishizuchi. This exclusive tour lets you blow the conch shell, just as samurai did before battle, offer prayers, and purify your mind and body under a powerful waterfall (waterfall purification not available in winter). Feel at one with nature as you retrace the steps of ancient monks in this deeply spiritual journey.

Shugendo is a uniquely Japanese philosophy, blending Buddhism, which originated in India, with Japan’s ancient animistic beliefs. While Japan is often misunderstood as a secular country—where people visit shrines at New Year, celebrate Christmas, and hold Buddhist rituals for their ancestors—Shugendo exemplifies how Japan has long harmonized diverse spiritual practices into everyday life. It’s a philosophy rooted in the Japanese psyche, connecting rulers and common people alike to the depths of the nation's spirit.

Discover the Art of Japanese Brewing!
Sake Brewery Tour and Tasting Experience

Join a guided tour through a traditional sake brewery and learn about the meticulous craftsmanship behind Japan’s brewing techniques. This luxurious experience offers a chance to savor carefully selected sake, allowing you to connect with the rich flavors and history of Japan’s brewing culture.

The Seto Inland Sea, nestled between Hiroshima and Ehime prefectures, is known for its mild climate and breathtaking scenery, making it a beloved destination in Western Japan. Historically, many of the region’s port towns thrived as vital stops for maritime transport, thanks to the shallow waters and swift currents. The steep mountains on both sides of the sea, in Hiroshima and Shikoku, provide fresh, high-quality water, which, combined with ideal conditions for rice cultivation, created the perfect environment for brewing. Onomichi, now famous worldwide among cyclists, was once the gateway to Japan’s brewing culture, a hub for distributing sake, vinegar, soy sauce, and other fermented seasonings across the country.
